Why your character deserves more than standard copier paper.

Your character sheet is the most vital tool at the gaming table. It’s the logbook of your deeds and the window to another world. But what good is the most epic design if the paper tears at the first sign of an eraser, or the ink bleeds into the fibers?


In this part of our series, we leave the digital realm behind to focus on the haptic experience.

We’ll show you how our Minimalist Versions reach their full potential on specialty papers like elephant hide or parchment, and how to calibrate your printer to achieve professional-grade results.

The Printer. Your Silent Partner

To perfectly render the fine lines of our EndlessArts sheets on textured paper, “Ctrl+P” is often not enough.

→ Quality Settings: Always select “High” or “Best”.

→ Paper Type Settings: If using 160g paper, set your printer to “Cardstock” or “Heavy Paper”. This slows down the feed and prevents smudging.

→ Scaling: Choose “Actual Size”. “Fit to Page” often ruins the precise mathematical alignment of our grids and fields.

Grammage: The Foundation of Your Legend

In the world of game design, not all paper is created equal. The thickness (grammage) determines the lifespan of your hero.

80g – 90g: The “Commoner” (The Budget Companion)

  • Pros: Absolute availability. You can find it in any retail store, from discounters to stationery shops. A 500-sheet pack costs an average of €5.00—making it just 1 cent per adventure page. It’s usually available in Bright White (modern, technical) or Natural White (slightly beige, easy on the eyes).
  • Cons: It’s the “disposable solution.” Intense battles with an eraser quickly lead to holes. Ink often bleeds through to the back (show-through), making double-sided printing nearly impossible.

A Quick Side-Note from the Studio: Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a huge fan of HOLY (not a partner, just a dedicated enjoyer of their Energy, Hydration, and Iced Tea lines!). And let’s be honest: with a properly sealed HOLY shaker, that spilled soda drama wouldn’t have happened in the first place 😉. But for all other cases, that’s exactly why we’re deep-diving into this material series!

100g – 120g: The “EndlessArts Standard” (The Battle-Tested Choice)

  • Pros: This is our clear recommendation. it offers the perfect balance. Opacity is high enough for double-sided printing. It feels sturdy and survives campaigns that span years. Our minimalist B&W designs look much “sharper” here.
  • Cons: The price increases (approx. €10-15 per pack). Additionally, it’s rarely found in normal supermarkets; a trip to a specialty store or online order is required. Another point: At very high printing temperatures (laser printers), this paper can curl slightly.

160g – 200g: The “Standard Bearer” (For What Endures)

  • Purpose: Here we leave the realm of the classic character sheet. For a sheet that is constantly folded or put in a folder, it is almost too stiff.
    However: It is the perfect choice for Rule Quick-Refs, tables, or spell cards that pass through many hands during the evening. It doesn’t crease and lies flat on the table like a board.

Texture: When Minimalism Meets Tactility

When we reduce our sheets to the essentials (Minimalist B&W), the paper surface becomes a co-designer.

  • Natural Paper (Uncoated): The first choice for pencil fans. The ink is lightly absorbed, creating an organic, “analog” look..
  • Elephant Hide & Parchment (The Artifact Feel): This is our absolute insider tip for B&W versions. These papers are impregnated and extremely stable. A simple black print on elephant hide looks like an official file from a Lovecraft scenario or a medieval document. It’s smudge-proof, durable, and turns a piece of paper into an object you’d hand over as an in-game “handout.”

The “Architect” Tip: Pro Printer Settings

So that specialty paper doesn’t become a nightmare for your printer:

  • 1. Feed: For paper 120g and up, always use the manual feed tray if your printer has one. This prevents jams.
  • 2. Settings: Select “Heavy Paper” or “Cardstock” in the print menu. The printer will then adjust the fuser and speed so the black remains deep and rich without smudging.

We’ve only just scratched the surface! There are hundreds of paper types, and each reacts differently to erasers, soda splashes (remember the HOLY shaker! 😉), and ink.
